Make a difference to this NZ business which is resilient and well positioned for growth
We are working on behalf of an NZ owned business operating in the tourism and transport sectors which pre Covid was experiencing strong growth, both here in NZ and Australia. Covid-19 has had an impact on this growth, but the company has responded appropriately in its reaction to the pandemic and decline in visitor numbers, so is well positioned for when the market returns. This business is in the unusual position of having diversity in its offering across geographies and sectors, so is not as exposed as a pure tourism player.
With the impending retirement of the Chair, the Board is looking to appoint a new Independent Director who will work alongside the two shareholders and one other Independent to navigate the challenges ahead and leverage the growth opportunities going forward. This business is robust and resilient due to its diversity, so offers some exciting possibilities in the future. A strong and capable management team are in place.
It goes without saying you are strategic and visionary and able to point to a highly successful career to executive level, ideally CEO level. From a governance perspective, you are comfortable working with family or privately owned businesses/shareholders. While industry experience would be great we are more interested in the right fit and blend of skills which include:
"Independence of contribution was maintained. You ensured that we had thought of all aspects we needed to and you disagreed you would say so. A very important feature as the employer can get captured by certain attributes of a candidate, with the risk of losing perspective."
